It’s easy to set yourself standards that are way too high when you’re a working mom. Keeping all the balls in the air at the same time is no easy feat – and virtually impossible. But I’m here to give you a few simple tips and tricks for juggling work, children and life. Here are some simple tips for how to work and be a mom at the same time (with minimal insanity).
Follow a simple daily cleaning routine
When you can’t keep your home looking clean, it starts to rub off on your mind and makes you fret about a never-ending list of cleaning jobs that need to be done. Follow a 20-minute daily routine that can be done quickly in the morning or at night, depending on what works for you. A simple routine could look like this: make beds, quick bathroom wipe, quick kitchen wipe, pack or unpack the dishwasher and put the bin out.
Create a weekly shopping list
Organization is key to feeling like a successful mom. Create a weekly shopping list, considering what you need for meals every night. Order the ingredients that you’ll need for the week and, to save time, order your groceries online. This also lets you see how much your groceries are costing you as you add items to your virtual trolley.
Make time for you!
Set aside some time every week that is just for you – tell hubby to take care of the kids during this time so you won’t be interrupted. Don’t clean during this time! Relax however you like – it may be in a cozy corner with a tea and a book, or a stroll on the beach. This time is crucial to your wellbeing, so don’t skip it.
