Stay-at-Home Jobs for the Organised Woman

Office

Love the office vibe but your circumstances don’t allow you to indulge your inner businesswoman? If you have to stay at home because of your circumstances – you could be a stay-at-home mom, full-time carer or simply out of a job – it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Here are a few easy ways to set yourself up for a flexible career in your own home.

Medical Transcription

To transcribe the notes that doctors make regarding their patients via audio, you need to have great computer skills. It’s a job for fast typers and someone with extensive knowledge regarding medical jargon and health. There are courses and training that cater for this. After training, getting a job can be difficult as experience is preferred. You should socialize and establish yourself amongst important contacts in the field of business you are after. It’s who you know, not necessarily what you know. Once you land a job, equipment is provided for you.

Consulting

A consultant offers services or advice for a fee. If you have proven skills and qualifications in an area you can market yourself as a consultant and provide others services from the comfort of your own home. You need experience though, being able to show clients that you are qualified. You should be a member of organizations related to the field you are in, and also take a course to be certified and registered in the field of choice. It’s all in your credentials. Working from home as a consultant means clients will be visiting your home, the office. It should be a private and neat area. You’ll have to talk to a lot of people and spread the word around about your services.

Call Centers

Working the phone from home for a business is a way to make an income from home. You need to have that telephone voice and be able to organize information quickly in a quiet place in your home. Call centers are a form of catering to a business who doesn’t have someone manning the phones 24/7. Before commencing such a job you need to have suitable equipment because if you don’t they won’t even consider taking you on board. Once landing the job, all you need is a computer with software and information readily available to answer whatever the customer needs. You must be well mannered when handling the calls and cannot get easily agitated and annoyed.
