Spring is in the air, and with spring comes the eventual cleaning of the home. It does cost money to keep the home looking clean, I’d know. As a bargain hunter as well as a housewife, I’m going to share a few ways on how to keep the home looking pristine whilst still saving money.
Baby oil an excellent cleaner
Baby oil is excellent to use as a liquid cleaning product if you have a spare bottle of it around the house. It’s inexpensive and can be used in a multitude of ways. You can polish a lot of surfaces around the house with baby oil. Any stainless steel cookware or faucets that need shining can be perfected with baby oil.
Don’t buy rags – use old sheets
How many old sheets do you have around the house that don’t have a purpose other than taking up space in the linen cupboard? Have you ever thought to use those old sheets as cleaning rags? Just tear the sheets into smaller rags and use them to clean technology screens, windows or blinds.
The best and cheapest dusting cloths
If you’re not keen on the idea of using old sheets as a recycled product to clean with, you can buy microfiber-dusting cloths at the supermarket. They won’t make a dent in your budget as they’re reasonably priced. From experience these cloths are great to use as they absorb the liquid cleaning product really well and collect and remove dust particles.
Don’t throw out your old newspapers
Newspapers are a very cheap alternative to any cleaning wipe, towel or bag. I use them for pretty much everything in my house! If there is any spillage that needs to be soaked up, reach for a sheet of newspaper. It does the trick! If you’re throwing food out, wrap it in newspaper instead of using a garbage bag.
Dollar stores – Great for Saving
If you don’t have any of the above items in your house that you can use for your spring cleaning, there are cleaning supplies on the market that are inexpensive. You just need to know where to look! I’d highly suggest you go to the dollar store rather than your usual supermarket! Dollar stores are the perfect place for you to purchase cleaning products that are at a discounted price.
