Don’t bother going to the store to buy any chemically-laden products when you feel like treating yourself to a “spa day” at home: all you need to do is look in your cupboard! So many natural ingredients are packed with antioxidants that moisturize and refresh the body, its not even worth paying a bucket load for your normal products – all you’ll end up with is hidden chemicals all over your face! Try these beautiful natural recipes for your next day spa at home.
Yogurt and watermelon face mask
A good face mask can deeply moisturize the delicate skin on your face. Different types of masks can also help with acne, exfoliation and aging. It feels good to know that the ingredients you’re putting so close to your eyes, mouth and nose are all completely natural, and edible, too!
This particular face mask will help brighten and smooth the skin, as the natural lactic acid in yogurt works as a gentle exfoliant. This can also help reverse signs of aging, as the vitamin C in watermelon helps produce collagen.
Mix 3 tablespoons of plain natural yogurt with ½ cup of pureed watermelon pieces. Rub all over the face and neck, avoiding the eyes and mouth, and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes (or until your favorite TV show is over!).
Avocado and honey hair treatment
I don’t know about you, but my hair seems perpetually dry. It soaks up any moisture it can get. Many general household items and food items help to remedy that – you’d be surprised at how many offer great moisturizing properties!
Mash an avocado in a bowl with 2 tablespoons of honey. Slather the mixture all over your hair, focusing on the ends, and wrap your hair into a bun. Cover with a shower cap so you won’t get mess everywhere. Let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes, or as long as you like! Afterwards, shampoo and condition hair as usual.
Coffee body scrub
A good body scrub, used once a week, can remove old skin and let new cells rise to the top, resulting in silky smooth skin. Say goodbye to scaly skin by using ingredients you’re sure to find in your cupboard.
Coffee body scrubs seem to be all the rage with girls on Instagram at the moment, so I thought I’d make my own recipe that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! Selfie, anyone?
Mix ¼ cup of oil and ½ cup of sugar or salt in a bowl, slowly, until the mixture forms a slightly moist ball. Add in 2 tablespoons of ground coffee (mmmm!). Rub the mixture onto your body in circular motions. Wash off and moisturize and feel the difference!
