If you haven’t heard, coconut oil is one of the most popular products to use in your beauty regimen right now. This versatile pantry staple has now also earned it’s rightful place in your bathroom cabinet! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, all you have to do is search “coconut oil” on YouTube and you’ll see how this humble oil has become a beauty blogger favourite.
If you’ve got a jar of this in your kitchen cupboard, you’ve got everything you need for glowing skin and glossy hair. These are my favourite ways to use coconut oil.
How to use coconut oil
Coconut oil is an easy way to liven up your locks. For a wash-out treatment that will leave your strands smooth as can be, make sure your coconut oil is a little melted. Add the oil to your fingertips and work through your hair with your hands. Add as much as you like – the more, the better! Keep in mind that this is can be a little messy, so you might like to do this near the bathroom sink. Wrap your hair in a towel and leave in as long as possible, then wash out with shampoo and conditioner.
This oil works great as a face cleanser – without all the nasty hidden ingredients! Simply massage the oil into your skin, apply a warm towel to open up your pores for 30 seconds, then wash off with a washcloth. Coconut oil doubles as a moisturiser due to its beautiful natural hydrating properties, so don’t worry about applying an additional moisturiser after cleansing. For a little extra love on the delicate eye area, dab on a drop or two underneath each eye.
Removing make-up with coconut oil is simple, just use as you would a normal make-up remover. Apply a few drops onto a cotton pad and gently swipe over your face until the make-up disappears. Rinse with warm water and follow with cleansing.
Coconut oil also makes a great lip balm, shaving cream, body moisturiser, cuticle softener, highlighter, body scrub and teeth whitener. Is there anything this oil can’t do? Let me know how you use coconut oil below!
