Family-owned Wegmans is a shoppers delight and has just been rated the number one grocery chain in America. I for one am not at all surprised. This store is like a mini city with – amazingly well presented, clean and with happy shiny people behind the counters and strolling the aisles.
Wegmans: bread heaven
What’s not to love about meandering through the bakery, butcher and cheese shop collecting goodies that will make your taste buds dance with pleasure! Did I mention the bakery? This place is bread heaven – my personal favorite is the cherry nut sourdough. Or the ancients grains with cranberry. Oh heck! They are all good! Especially warm straight out the ovens. With some cheese. Did I mention that Wegmans typically carries up to 300 different kinds of cheese – and you can even taste them!
The Wegman’s candy bar experience
If all that gourmet seduction gets too much you and sit awhile and enjoy sushi or a meal at the in-house restaurant or coffee shop. Pick up some flowers, some takeout and the groceries you need and you’re all set. Wait. If you have a sweet tooth – or a child’s birthday party coming up, don’t miss the bulk candy bar. This place is the closest thing to Willy Wonka’s factory I’ve ever seen.
Kid-friendly carts at Wegmans
To date there are 83 Wegmans stores in the mid-Atlantic region, in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. The bells and whistles flagship store is the Pittsford store. The stores are staffed by people passionate about food and you can really tell in the quality of the service. It’s also child friendly, providing sweet ‘racing car’ carts to keep the little ones amused. And wonderful rest rooms for those inevitable potty stops when shopping with young ones.
So there you have it! That’s why Wegmans is the best grocery store to shop at. Do you agree?
